The Heart Institute at the Children's Hospital Colorado has a specialized follow-up clinic for babies born with complex congenital heart defects who need palliative surgery.  Their Complex Congenital Heart Disease and Development (CCHDD) Clinic supports families and babies every step of the way.  In addition to caring for babies after heart surgery and discharge to home, the CCHDD Clinic also provides follow-up care throughout childhood.  Their multidisciplinary care team include experts from areas across the hospital to monitor a child’s treatment including pediatric cardiology, nutrition, feeding, social work, PT/OT, neurodevelopment, and speech pathology.

STS Data

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has established the STS Public Reporting initiative which provides publicly available data on how cardiac surgical programs compare with national benchmarks for overall performance, survival, and complications.  The Database includes separate reports for Adult Cardiac, Congenital Heart, and General Thoracic Surgery.  An explanation of the data reporting is available here.
